A denial of service (DoS) vulnerability exists in the ION memory management module of some Huawei mobile phones. An attacker may trick a user into installing a malicious app to send specific parameters to a Huawei mobile phone. Successful exploit could cause the system to restart. (Vulnerability ID: HWPSIRT-2016-09075)

This vulnerability has been assigned a Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) ID: CVE-2016-8758.

An attacker can exploit the vulnerability to cause the system to restart.

This vulnerability can be exploited only when the following conditions are present:

1.The attacker successfully tricks a user into installing a malicious application on the smart phone.

2.Open the camera application.

Vulnerability details:

A DoS vulnerability exists in the ION memory management module of some Huawei mobile phones due to the lack of parameter validation. An attacker may trick a user into installing a malicious app to send specific parameters to a Huawei mobile phone. Successful exploit could cause the system to restart.
