There is a buffer overflow vulnerability in the Bluetooth module of some Huawei mobile phones. Due to insufficient input validation, an unauthenticated attacker may craft Bluetooth AVDTP/AVCTP messages after successful paring, causing buffer overflow. Successful exploit may cause code execution. (Vulnerability ID: HWPSIRT-2017-09192)

This vulnerability has been assigned a Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) ID: CVE-2017-17285.

This vulnerability can be exploited only when the following conditions are present:

1. The attacker could connect to the affected products by Bluetooth.

Vulnerability details:

Due to insufficient input validation, an unauthenticated attacker may craft Bluetooth AVDTP/AVCTP messages after successful paring, causing buffer overflow. Successful exploit may cause code execution.

Mobile phones that support automatic update will receive a system update prompt. You can install the update to fix the vulnerability.

This vulnerability was discovered by Huawei internal tester.
