Security Advisory - MITM Vulnerability on Huawei Share

There is a man-in-the-middle(MITM) vulnerability on Huawei Share of certain smartphones. When users establish connection and transfer data through Huawei Share, an attacker could sniffer, spoof and do a series of operations to intrude the Huawei Share connection and launch a man-in-the-middle attack to obtain and tamper the data. (Vulnerability ID: HWPSIRT-2019-03109)

This vulnerability has been assigned a Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) ID: CVE-2019-5215.

The attacker launch a man-in-the-middle attack to obtain and tamper the data.

The severity of the vulnerability in this advisory has been assessed by the Common Vulnerability Scoring System Version 3.0 (CVSS v3 Specification Document).

Base Score: 6.8 (AV:A/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N)

Temporal Score: 6.3 (E:F/RL:O/RC:C)

This vulnerability can be exploited only when the following conditions are present:

1. The attacker launch the attack at adjacent network.

2. The attacker gain some necessary information through decompilation.

Vulnerability details:

When users establish connection and transfer data through Huawei Share, an attacker could sniffer, spoof and do a series of operations to intrude the Huawei Share connection and launch a man-in-the-middle attack to obtain and tamper the data.

Smart phones that support automatic update will receive a system update prompt. You can install the update to fix the vulnerability.
