Security Advisory - Out of Bounds Write Vulnerability in Several Smartphones

There is an out of bounds write vulnerability in several smartphones. The software writes data past the end of the intended buffer because of insufficient validation of certain parameter when initializing certain driver program. An attacker could trick the user into installing a malicious application, successful exploit could cause the device to reboot. (Vulnerability ID: HWPSIRT-2019-04113)

This vulnerability has been assigned a Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) ID: CVE-2020-1792.

Successful exploit could cause the device to reboot.

This vulnerability can be exploited only when the following conditions are present:

An attacker could trick the user into installing a malicious application.

Vulnerability details:

The software writes data past the end of the intended buffer because of insufficient validation of certain parameter when initializing certain driver program. An attacker could trick the user into installing a malicious application, successful exploit could cause the device to reboot.

The product that supports automatic update will receive a system update prompt. You can install the update to fix the vulnerability.
