Security Advisory - Multiple Security Vulnerabilities in Driver of Huawei Smart Phones

There are two stack overflow vulnerabilities in video driver. An attacker may trick a user into installing a malicious application and the application can send given parameter to video driver to crash the system or escalate user privilege. (Vulnerability ID: HWPSIRT-2016-08056 and HWPSIRT-2016-08058)
These vulnerabilities have been assigned Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) ID: CVE-2016-8759 and CVE-2016-8761.
There is a heap overflow vulnerability in touthscreen driver. An attacker may trick a user into installing a malicious application and the application can send given parameter to touthscreen driver to crash the system or escalate user privilege. (Vulnerability ID: HWPSIRT-2016-08057)
This vulnerability has been assigned CVE ID: CVE-2016-8760.

The vulnerability classification has been performed by using the CVSSv2 scoring system (http://www.first.org/cvss/).

1. Prerequisite:
The attacker successfully tricks a user into installing a malicious application on the smart phone.
2. Attacking procedure:
An attacker may trick a user into installing a malicious application, and the application can send given parameter to the driver to crash the system or escalate user privilege.

Mobile phones will receive a system update prompt. The vulnerabilities will be fixed after users install the update.

These vulnerabilities were reported to Huawei PSIRT by Zhao Jianqiang from Lab 0x031E of Qihoo 360 Technology Co. Ltd. The vulnerability HWPSIRT-2016-08057 was also reported by ADLab of Venustech, Zhu Bin from VPP Security Team, Pan Yu from 360 Vulpecker Team and Wenlin Yang, Guang Gong(@Oldfresher), Hao Chen from 360 Alpha Team.
