There is a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in Huawei Email APP of smartphones. The vulnerability is due to insufficient verification of parameter values. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to send email that storing malicious code to a smartphone and waiting for a user to access this email that triggers execution of the code. An exploit could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary script code on the affected device. (Vulnerability ID: HWPSIRT-2017-07071)

This vulnerability has been assigned a Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) ID: CVE-2017-8178.

This vulnerability can be exploited only when the following conditions are present:

The attacker sends one Email to smartphone.

Vulnerability details:

The vulnerability is due to insufficient verification of parameter values. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to send email that storing malicious code to a smartphone and waiting for a user to access this email that triggers execution of the code. An exploit could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary script code on the affected device.

The product that supports automatic update will receive a system update prompt. You can install the update to fix the vulnerability.
