Security Advisory - Resource Management Errors Vulnerability in Some Huawei Products

The Light Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) clients of some Huawei products have a resource management errors vulnerability. An unauthenticated, remote attacker may make the LDAP server not respond to the client's request by controlling the LDAP server. Due to improper management of LDAP connection resource, a successful exploit may cause the connection resource exhausted of the LDAP client. (Vulnerability ID: HWPSIRT-2017-01027)

This vulnerability has been assigned a Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) ID: CVE-2017-17290.

Successful exploit may cause the connection resource exhausted of the LDAP client.

The vulnerability classification has been performed by using the CVSSv3 scoring system (http://www.first.org/cvss/specification-document).

Temporal Score: 3.5 (E:F/RL:O/RC:C)

This vulnerability can be exploited only when the following conditions are present:

1. The attacker gains access to the affected products network.

2. The LDAP function is configured in the affected product.

3. The LDAP server has been controlled by the attacker.

Vulnerability details:

An attacker may make the LDAP server not respond to the client's request. Due to improper management of LDAP connection resource, successful exploit will lead to the connection resource exhausted of the LDAP client.
