Security Advisory - Information Leakage in Huawei VIP App Web Service

Huawei VIP App is mobile app for Malaysia customers that purchased P20 Series, Nova 3/3i and Mate 20. There is a vulnerability that attackers can conduct bruteforce to the VIP App Web Services to get user information leakage. (Vulnerability ID: HWPSIRT-2018-11111)  

This vulnerability has been assigned a Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) ID: CVE-2018-7956.

Attackers can brute force application Web Services to retrieve user information.

The vulnerability classification has been performed by using the CVSSv3 scoring system (http://www.first.org/cvss/specification-document).

This vulnerability can be exploited only when the following conditions are present:

Attacker can connect to Huawei VIP App Web Service.

Vulnerability details:

Huawei VIP App Web Service allows an attacker to brute force to retrieve user information.



This issue has been fixed and the latest version of Huawei VIP application has been released on google play.
