Security Advisory - Directory Traversal Vulnerability in Huawei AR Router

The AR router has a directory traversal vulnerability when serving as an SFTP server. An attacker can log in to the AR router and traverse FTP server directories to access unauthorized directories, leading to information leaks. (Vulnerability ID: HWPSIRT-2015-09029)

This vulnerability has been assigned Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) ID: CVE-2015-8228.

An attacker can exploit this vulnerability to access unauthorized directories, leading to information leaks.

The vulnerability classification has been performed by using the CVSSv2 scoring system (http://www.first.org/cvss/).

1. Prerequisite:

The attacker can access to the device and login;

2. Attacking procedure:

When serving as an SFTP server, the AR router does not strictly check the directories accessible to users. An attacker who can log in to the AR router can access unauthorized directories, leading to information leaks. However, the attacker cannot modify or delete directories.
