Future opportunities at Huawei for the younger generation
[Zurich, 30-November-2023] For the first time, Huawei Switzerland took part in the DigitALL Night, which closed the first day of the Huawei Connect in Paris. Huawei Switzerland combined the gala evening for students of STEM disciplines with its Huawei Switzerland Campus Open Day.
The Campus Open Day is a flagship event for young ICT talents that aims to familiarize students and graduates with the wide range of career opportunities at Huawei.
More than 40 students and professors from six universities gathered at the Joint Innovation Center in Zurich-Oerlikon for this event, which took place on 15 November. Institutions involved included ETH Zurich, the University of Zurich, HSLU, FHNW, ZHAW and the SPF Institute for Solar Technology at the University of Applied Sciences OST.
The young people were given the opportunity to find out about Huawei and the latest ICT trends. Andreea Popescu, Recruitment Manager at Huawei Switzerland, presented the format of the Huawei Switzerland Campus Open Day and Laura Glaninger from the communications team explained Huawei's environmental and social ambitions and commitments. Luc Meier, in his role as Product Manager Smart PV, immersed the audience in the trends of photovoltaics and explained what digital power is all about. Liu Wei, HR Director at Huawei Technologies Switzerland, took the interested parties on a discovery tour through the Huawei Campus Fresh Graduate Program in her presentation.
The CEO of Huawei Switzerland, Michael Yang, also took the opportunity to welcome the students before they were guided through the newly opened exhibition of the Joint Innovation Centre, which Huawei operates together with Sunrise in Opfikon.
In a panel discussion with Andreea Popescu, Laura Glaninger, Beatrice Phua, Procurement Manager, and Pascal Neuhaus, Business Group Finance Manager, various career paths to and at Huawei came to light.
The highlight of the evening was the live stream to the DigitALL Night, which brought together 600 students in the auditorium in Paris and also connected Switzerland with the Huawei branches in Germany, Spain, Finland, Italy, Romania, Sweden and Turkey.
As a responsible ICT company, Huawei Switzerland wants to offer talents more employment opportunities in order to create a fully networked, intelligent world together - in Switzerland for Switzerland.
Huawei is making countless efforts to achieve this. Huawei was certified as a Top Employer for the fourth time in a row in 2023. Throughout Europe, the award-winning technology giant supports young talent and invests in their promotion and education.
The conclusion of the evening: perfectly organized, highly interesting and with a great wow factor during the grand live broadcast.
The participants were not sparing with positive feedback; the exchange was very enriching, and Huawei was able to demonstrate its strengths such as innovative power, expertise and focus on people at the center of its business activities.
Now the Swiss branch of the technology giant is looking forward to new additions to the Huawei family in the near future.
