A gold medalist in 2010 at the 51st International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) in Astana, Kazakhstan, Nie Zipei is now a researcher at Huawei’s Lagrange Mathematics and Computer Research Center in Paris. Which goes to show how far a love of math can take a boy, now a man, from China. In this video shot during the 2022 IMO in Oslo, Norway, Zipei discusses his passion for mathematics. But that’s after he has a bit of fun asking tough math questions to people he meets on the street.
